Excalibur was one of several businesses chosen to help promote agricultural business and trade. While on the mission Mr. Verkade met with Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez and President Oscar Aris of Costa Rica along with their Economic Cabinets. Mr. Verkade also met with the Ambassadors for each country, several Ministers of Foreign Trade, Major Agrobusiness leaders, University leaders and Ministers of Agriculture. Excalibur’s primary objective was not to sell dehydrators, but to offer the support of our Global Outreach Program.
One of the many exciting developments arising from the mission involves collaboration with Costa Rica’s schools and our Global Outreach Program. Excalibur’s Global Outreach Chefs are working to help implement a healthy lunch and snack program in Costa Rican schools. We are working closely to test a pilot school and hope to expand to other schools throughout Costa Rica. Our program includes an important Farm to School element, as well as, using dehydration to provide healthy alternatives to unhealthy snacks and foods found in schools worldwide. Part of Excalibur’s Global Outreach Chef’s mission is to improve the well-being of the entire community by teaching schools, students and families ways to create and maintain lifelong health through healthy eating habits and food preparation. More to come on our school programs in future newsletters.
We would like to thank all of our Global Outreach Chefs, many of whom are world renowned, for there help on the project. If you have something to give or would like to become part of our Global Outreach Program please contact
